This program provides individualized assistance for young readers who need practice with vocabulary, decoding, high-frequency words, fluency, and comprehension. We will work with your child through engaging phonics-based classroom instruction and lessons and activities that incorporate different reading strategies. Students will develop a passion for reading as we go deep into comprehension! We will be reading texts, stories, and poems about camping and having lots of discussions about the characters, problems, and key events in each book. We will make inferences and practice retelling the stories with great detail! Also, each morning students will be reading independently with books that match their reading level. Students will be conferencing with the teacher about different reading strategies to use when they find an unknown word and how to break apart words. We will also learn the importance of reading with fluency and expression. Come and join us at Camp Read A Lot!
