An Explosion of Color
The Lower School Art Show

As third-grade parent Jenny Mayberry walked into the Carol Franc Buck Hall of the Arts (HOTA) lobby to see the Lower School Art Exhibit, she literally let out a gasp. “To step into what our kids have been creating during their day literally took my breath away. It looks like happiness.”

From our very youngest to our almost-ready-for-middle-school students, the art on display was rich in form and color. Especially color. Whether painting their favorite stuffed animal, creating a fantastical creature out of papier mâché, sketching a landscape rich in greens and blues, or trying their hand at self-portraiture, each student’s work is a window into their hearts and minds.

“Creating art is a process that involves both successes and challenges,” shared Art Teacher Susan Turner. “Seeing how proud the students were when they shared their artwork with their families brought me an overwhelming sense of joy. I am so proud of each artist, and feel lucky to be their teacher.”

If you haven’t had a chance to see the 2024 Lower School Art Exhibit, the show will be open in the HOTA Lobby until April 26, 2024.
