This week is the beginning of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and spiritual reflection. On seeing the first crescent moon, Muslims begin fasting from sunrise to sunset for the entire lunar month. In the evening they stay up late to celebrate God in the night.
A new moon teaches gradualness
and deliberation and how one gives birth
to oneself slowly. Patience with small details
makes perfect a large work, like the universe.
