Mike Fulton Positive Coach Alliance Finalist 2019

Mike Fulton

Congratulations to San Domenico Coach Mike Fulton! He was nominated and selected as one of 142 National Finalists from nearly 1,000 nominees across the country in the Positive Coaching Alliance 2019 DOUBLE-GOAL COACH® AWARDS! The PCA Double-Goal Coach Award is given to U.S. youth and high school sports coaches who embody the ideals of the Double-Goal Coach: striving to win, while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports.

According to the PCA website, nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Take a mastery approach to sport rather than a scoreboard orientation.
  • Fill Emotional Tanks of athletes, refusing to motivate through fear, intimidation, or shame, providing a fuel mixed of five specific, truthful praises for every specific, constructive correction.
  • Honor the Game by respecting ROOTS (Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, Self).

As San Domenico’s Upper School Athletics Program Coordinator, Meagan Motley says of Coach Fulton, “More than just his very impressive winning record, Mike is a stellar human being. I have had the pleasure of working with Mike over the last 11 years. I have seen first hand how dedicated Mike is to his program and to each individual player on his team. Mike knows how to motivate, teach, improve and get the best effort out of his team.”

There will be 50 national award winners announced in March 2019.
