How to Talk to Teens About Sex, Decision-Making, and Sexual Ethics

Natasha Sing

YOU ARE INVITED

We are pleased to welcome back to campus, sexual literacy educator,
Natasha Singh.

The theme for her presentation this year will be,

How to Talk to Teens About Sex, Decision-Making, and Sexual Ethics

Thursday, May 2
6:30 - 8:30 pm
SD’s Alice Dupas Library

In a time where the national conversation is dominated by stories about sexual harassment and sexual assault, it’s critical for parents and educators to be preemptive and proactive with kids, which means starting–and continuing–conversations about sexual ethics with both children and teens.

Natasha will provide information and strategies about how to talk to kids about sex and sexual ethics, and why it’s important to start sooner than later.

In this two hour presentation, you will learn:

  • The most common myths that prevent parents from talking to their kids about sex
  • Why teaching sexual ethics matters even if your child isn’t sexually active
  • What to do if your child is intentionally or unintentionally exposed to pornography
  • Strategies for talking to kids about consent, gender, consent, and media consumption
  • Strategies for moving past your own discomfort when talking about sexual intimacy
  • That you’re more capable of having these conversations than you think!

You will leave this parent ed event with frameworks, tools, and language that you can use at home with your family.
