#FacesOfSD - Kade O.

We've got so many cool people in our SD community and we thought you'd like to get to know some of them. Follow along at #FacesOfSD. Here, meet Kade O., Class of 2019.

  1. What is your full name?
    Kade Christopher O'Reilly
  2. How long have you been at San Domenico?
I started as a freshman at SD, and I am currently wrapping up my sophomore year.
  3. What is your favorite food at SD?
For my favorite food, I'd definitely have to go with the chocolate chip cookies served for Wednesday dessert, as well as the pizza everyday. I can't deny that I've been caught several times taking more than I should have been. On another note, since I've been at SD, I've had the opportunity to try several new foods, ranging from a variety of soups to traditional Chinese food. In middle school, I got tired of bringing the same lunch to school each day. At San Domenico that problem has been entirely alleviated because of the different choices each day.
  4. What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is definitely the weight room. 4 days a week I'm in there after school to train for basketball next year. If I'm not in there, I'm in the gym working with my coaches to prepare for work on my game. San Domenico has provided me with a great area to train and to prepare for my upcoming sports seasons.
  5. What is your favorite annual event at San Domenico?
My favorite annual event at SD is the Food Drive. During my freshman year, this event gave me the opportunity to talk with several upperclassmen and to strengthen the bond with my classmates through service. This year, I had another great experience with the Food Drive and got to talk with people from my class that I hadn't had a long conversation with before.
  6. What do you imagine doing when you grow up?
When I am older I would like to be a businessman and potentially start my own company. I've held this idea my whole childhood and since I was in 7th grade, I've been selling products online to consumers all around the globe through online selling platforms. In the past, I've attended Google events as well as taken online courses to prepare me for my potential career in the future. As of now, I've continued to sell online and am planning to share my passion with my classmates by starting a club next year.
  7. What brings you joy?
I am joyful about the upcoming summer. Although I'll have a break from academics, I'll still be at school almost every day this summer. On the weekdays from the morning to the afternoon, I'll be running basketball camps, and then in the evening I'll be at San Domenico for open gyms and working with our strength and conditioning coach.
  8. What activities do you participate in at SD?
Activities I participate in at SD include basketball, strength and conditioning, and ultimate frisbee.
  9. After working hard in school all week, what is your ideal weekend?
My ideal weekend has to be just relaxing at home. During the school week, I have to balance homework and sports, so by the end of the week I feel pretty drained. At home, I just listen to music and read up on business articles.
  10. What are some of your most significant academic achievements?
My most significant academic accomplishment for me this year has definitely been taking two math classes, AP Statistics and Pre Calculus Honors. I've had some rough patches, but I've always been able to push through and manage both of the challenging courses.
  11. What is one of your most significant personal achievements?
A major accomplishment for me has been attending a Google event in Silicon Valley. Although they weren't looking for high school employees, I was able to speak with many employees on topics I'm interested in and about my plans for my future. I also have become accomplished over the past few years in selling online. Each week, I'm at the post office multiple times to ship out packages. From this, I've learned how to properly manage my own money and how to communicate with a variety of people from the United States as well as countries such as Israel and France. My accomplishments now will hopefully play a positive role in my future.

Thank you for sharing and for being part of our community, Kade. We are lucky to have you!
