Education & Achievements
Sally Houston brings over 15 years of art teaching experience and curriculum development to San Domenico. Sally grew up in a family with two parents who were teachers and artists, which taught her the importance of creativity and humor. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she focused on ceramics and sculpture. Her ceramic studies provided the opportunity to learn from Native American Pueblo Potter Mary Lewis Garcia. After graduation, she returned to her home state of New Jersey where she taught art at a public school for 7 years. While there, Sally founded a district-wide Artist in Residence program where artists would work with students in creating large ceramic mural installations. Sally is passionate about art and encourages students to explore and to develop their own creative path. When she isn’t working in the studio on the potter’s wheel, you can find her hiking the vast trails of Marin with her family.
“My favorite part of being a member of the San Domenico community is the supportive culture and enriching environment.”
