Dear San Domenico Families,

Since the onset of the novel coronavirus outbreak and ensuing shelter in place, it may feel like the global norm is uncertainty. At SD however, we carry on a 170-year tradition of stability, community, and excellence in education. We also pride ourselves on providing a robust program that responds to the needs of the times. Over the last several weeks, our Board of Trustees and School Leadership Team have been diligently studying the financial and operational impacts of COVID-19 for both the end of the current year and for the 2020-21 school year.

We are pleased to share that we have formed a Strategic Financial Planning Team to look at the many variables and scenarios that may play out over the coming months and years, and how they may impact our business model. Joining us on this team will be the following former and current Trustees:

  • Glenn Snyder, Former SD Board Chair, dad to Grey (12th)

  • Pablo Bizjack, Board Treasurer, Finance Committee Chair, dad to Jillian (10th) and Parker (12th)

  • Liz Revenko, Alumna of the Class of '87, Trustee, Investment Committee Chair, Finance Committee Member

  • Greg Rivers, Trustee, Finance Committee Member, dad to Braelyn (3rd) and Abigail (1st)

For more on our full Board of Trustees, please visit www.sandomenico.org/Board. This Strategic Financial Planning Team team also includes:

  • David Wise, Chief Financial Officer

  • Anna Heidinger, Director of Advancement

  • Jennifer Nash, Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management

  • Kimberly Pinkson, Director of Marketing and Communications

With the goal of keeping our School strong, and all of the programs in place throughout this time of transition and into a “new normal,” this Strategic Financial Planning Team is assessing the financial and operational implications of several possible teaching and learning models, as well as:

  • planning for increased requests for Indexed Tuition assistance from current SD families impacted by COVID-19 economic fallout,

  • assessing our current enrollment deadlines and payment plans,

  • evaluating how our School’s cost structure may change if we are in distance learning mode for a significant portion of the next school year, and what impact that may have on tuition.

As we consider the many questions before us, we want to assure you that our core values will continue to guide our strategic decision making. We will study and reflect on the many choices before us while prioritizing our community, and considering how our decisions will serve not only our families but also, our neighbors and the greater world. There are no easy answers, but we remain steadfast in upholding our mission and delivering on our promise of an exceptional education and a sense of purpose. We intend to keep you informed along the way and, to the best of our ability, answer your questions as they come in.

For current San Domenico families who are experiencing financial reversals related to the pandemic, we encourage you to reach out to Dianne Dornbush, our Enrollment Systems Manager and Indexed Tuition Coordinator, at indexedtuition@sandomenico.org to discuss your particular situation.

We know there are many questions and uncertainties, and we thank you for your patience as we plan to not only manage this moment, but also be prepared to serve our families next fall and in the years to come.

Sincerely,

Richie Goldman
