THE LIGHTNING THIEF
The Percy Jackson Musical
Presented by the Upper School and Middle School: As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him.

Disney's DESCENDANTS, The Musical
Unique to this year’s spring musical production, Middle and Upper School students shared the stage. “Connecting the Middle School and Upper School through one big musical theatre collaboration has been a dream of Head of School Cecily Stock’s for many years,” says Erica Smith. “I am so excited that this is the year, and this is the show. Our script introduction reads: ‘At its core, Descendants is a musical about empathy, tolerance, and acceptance.’ What a wonderful way for our students to unite in the common cause of creating art for social change.”

Legally Blonde, Jr.
Based on the award-winning Broadway musical and the smash hit motion picture, Legally Blonde Jr. is a fabulously fun journey of self-discovery and empowerment. The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit, and sass, leaving both the cast and audience seeing pink!

Alice in Wonderland
Pivoting during the pandemic, this well known story takes to the smallest stage on earth: a tiny box on a computer screen. Based on the beloved classic by Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland, Alice tumbles down a rabbit hole and is immersed in a fantastical, wacky land. Filled with zany characters, you’ll never want to leave the tea party!

Matilda
The show must go on! Just ten days before opening night, the COVID pandemic forced San Domenico to move to distance learning. Showing creativity and perseverance, a historic, first-ever virtual performance of When I Grow Up from Matilda: The Musical by Roald Dahl
takes center stage.

From “Summer Nights” to “Greased Lightning,” the cast and crew for Grease light up the stage and leave the audience tapping their feet and singing along. Featuring a hip-shaking 1950’s rock ‘n roll musical score, Grease tells a beloved tale of friendship, romance and adventures during the good ol’ days of high school.

The Sound of Music
One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music tells the story of an exuberant young governess who brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power on the eve of World World II. The Sound of Music won the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.

Fiddler on the Roof
Winner of nine Tony Awards when it debuted on Broadway, Fiddler on the Roof has touched audiences worldwide with its humor and warmth. Timeless songs such as “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” and “If I Were a Rich Man” leave audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

Everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny stars in this stage adaptation of the hit movie musical Mary Poppins. Based on P.L. Travers' beloved book series of the same name, this remarkable nanny brings her combination of whimsy, magic and disciplined common sense into the home of the Banks family and transforms the lives of their wildly misbehaving children.

The Brothers Grimm “go Broadway” with five well-known fairy tales that collide into one crazy musical journey about the lengths we will go to get what we think we want. James Lapine and Stphen Sondheim’s fractured fairy tale becomes a moving message to the audience—“Be careful what you wish for!”
