Digital Arts
What will you create today?
San Domenico is proud to have one of the most extensive Digital Arts programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, with classes in digital animation, digital music, photography, digital arts, game design, and a four-year film program that offers college+ level opportunities in narrative and documentary filmmaking, along with advanced opportunities in 2D/3D visual effects, music composition, cinematography, and screenwriting.
Welcome to Digital Arts
I am thrilled to welcome you to the most dynamic, student-centric Digital Arts program in the Bay Area. While we offer all traditional digital arts at SD, we are driven to provide students with the learning and experiences they need to unlock and achieve their personal ambitions. To realize this, we constantly update our program with the latest professional production tools, such as 2D/3D digital animation with motion capture, complete symphonic film scoring, and virtual production filmmaking using Unreal Engine (as seen on shows like The Mandalorian).
The foundation of our program is our unique core/personalized learning model. Designed using the latest research on active learning, achievement, and 21st century design practices, our model provides students with deep learning in each subject, while simultaneously giving them the autonomy and support to create almost anything they can imagine, at any level, from novice to professional. As a result, SD students from grades 6-12 have been accepted into and won awards in competitions and festivals across the country, from the Marin County Fair to the All American High School Film Festival.
I came to SD because my family believes so deeply in the School’s philosophy, humanity, and purposeful education. I have built student-centric digital arts programs at other top schools across the country, but none of those experiences compares with what I have been empowered to build here.
Come join us!

Personalized Curriculum
The Digital Arts Department curriculum is designed for students to learn and produce within the intersection of technology, creativity, and communication. Through the use of the latest professional-grade technology and tools, students produce individual work that conveys their personal interests and synthesizes their learning into larger team productions. Signature to this practice is our Children’s Book & Animation experience, where students across all divisions and arts collaborate to write, illustrate, and produce an illustrated children’s book and accompanying animation, with original voice acting, editing, and music.
All Digital Arts courses emphasize both core and personalized learning. Core learning includes all of the skills, language, and understandings that professionals need to work and collaborate within each discipline. Personalized learning includes all learning that is necessary for each student to produce specialized work that is driven by their individual interests and goals. Upper level classes promote elevated skills, knowledge, and production. Core and personalized learning are central components of our philosophy and instruction. It is how we help unlock a sense of purpose in every student.
