Distinguished Alumni & Outstanding Young Alumni
The Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni are San Domenico graduates who continue to embody the San Domenico values of study, reflection, service, and community in their professional lives and service to the community. The Outstanding Young Alumni Award, first awarded in 2021, goes to an alum who graduated within the previous ten years.
2026 Distinguished Alumni Award
Class of 1966
This year, the Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to the entire Class of 1966, the first to graduate from SD’s Sleepy Hollow campus. While school buildings were still under construction that year, their educational experience on the beautiful new campus remained rich and meaningful, helping shape lifelong friendships and connection to the School.
They experienced campus life in its earliest days—setting out to explore the land that would become the campus today, living in the dorms, gathering in the dining hall, and congregating in the chapel. They helped establish traditions that continue to define the student experience, including being the first class to gather on the front steps of the ruins at the base of campus.
Their time at SD was marked by a rich and formative education—learning under the guidance of the Sisters, engaging in multi-language studies, participating in music field trips, and sharing in traditions like receiving the Book of Courtesy.
As Sister Gervaise reflected, “The Class of 1966 showed remarkable flexibility, embracing all the changes that came with the second semester of their senior year.”
What began on campus has endured for decades. Members of the Class of 1966 have remained deeply connected to San Domenico through their generosity, leadership, and consistent engagement. With nearly 80% lifetime philanthropic participation and 60 years of continued involvement, they exemplify a remarkable commitment to one another and to the school.
The impact of the Class of 1966 continues to shape the spirit of San Domenico today.
