Tuition & Affordability

We strive to build our community from a wide variety of economic backgrounds.

We Are Proud to Offer Indexed Tuition

Indexed Tuition is a tuition rate that is customized according to each family’s financial ability to contribute to their educational expenses. It provides a welcoming way for families to join our community from a wide variety of economic backgrounds.

Indexed Tuition is key to meeting our mission of celebrating diversity and responding with integrity to the needs and challenges of our time. Not only does it increase socioeconomic diversity but it also strengthens our school for long-term sustainability. It reflects our commitment to maintaining an inclusive community of 21st-Century learners working together to promote a peaceful and sustainable world.

We encourage all families interested in a San Domenico education to apply for admission. When considering the process of determining your Indexed Tuition rate, please keep the following in mind:

  • Conversations with families regarding tuition and affordability are managed with respect and confidentiality.
  • Families must apply for Indexed Tuition each year. However, the index only shifts when there is a material change in a family’s ability to pay.
  • Tuition at the top of the index still does not cover the actual cost of a San Domenico education, so every student’s tuition is indexed to some degree. The Indexed Tuition budget comprises funds from the annual operating budget, as well as income from endowment.

Indexed Tuition at San Domenico is based on each family's unique financial profile. Please refer to page three of the Financial Policy Handbook for 2022-23 tuition and fees by grade.

Indexed Tuition Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee waiver for families applying for Indexed Tuition?

Families that qualify for an application fee waiver will automatically receive a waiver upon submitting their Parent Financial Statement (PFS) form.

How do parents who are separated, divorced, or never married apply for Indexed Tuition?

San Domenico maintains a philosophy that requires active participation of a student's family in funding this educational opportunity. In instances where parents are separated or divorced, the School requires both parents to contribute to the cost of their child’s education and submit the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) through SSS. The School will not be bound by the statement that one parent has waived responsibility for educational expenses. If either parent has remarried, all financial information about the current spouse is to be included in the application.

Can international students apply for Indexed Tuition?

Yes. International families applying for Indexed Tuition (financial aid), who have never filed taxes in the United States, should complete the International Student Financial Aid Profile and Parent Financial Statement (PFS) through SSS. If you have filed taxes in the US, please complete the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) through SSS.

How many families participate in the Indexed Tuition program?

For the 2022-23 school year, approximately 33% of families participated in the Indexed Tuition program.

What if our family chooses not to apply for Indexed Tuition this year but needs to in the future?

If affordability becomes a challenge due to a change of circumstances, we encourage families to apply for Indexed Tuition.
