Step outside your comfort zone, explore life beyond what you're used to, and take your education overseas. San Domenico offers summer, semester or year-long programs for international students which allow them to expand the boundaries of their education and transform the world into their classroom.
As a “regular” San Domenico student, you’ll live on campus in our dorms, and experience everyday life at SD in a truly authentic way. Along the way you will grow your confidence and leadership capacity, while simultaneously building academic and life skills, as well as make a whole bunch of lifelong friends!

San Domenico has a 169-year legacy as an internationally recognized K-12 day and boarding school, enrolling students of all backgrounds and faith traditions. Our mission has been to provide students with an exceptional education anchored in purpose and meaning. Our innovative and rigorous academic curriculum, which is richly integrated in the Arts, inspires students to identify their interests and passions and to find their purpose in learning everyday.
Our visionary and experienced faculty members have advanced teaching degrees, and are leaders in best practice teaching and technology integration, and experts in social/emotional learning. We offer over 125 courses, 24 AP and honors classes. Small class size and encouraging teachers, allow every student voice to be heard and to engage in the learning process.
Our expansive 515-acre campus, serves a global student community. With 125 domestic and international boarders, we offer an inclusive community made up of regional students from the SF Bay Area and across the US as well as students from over 16 countries around the world. The campus boasts an extensive music conservatory and performing arts facility, equestrian center, athletic center, tennis courts, playing fields, and swimming pool, all of which provide students at all levels, with opportunities to develop their gifts and explore their interests and passions outside of the classroom.

San Domenico classes resemble a college seminar, with students and teacher actively discussing new ideas and insights, and completely involved in the give and take of reasoned arguments. Rarely will you see a straight lecture; Information is presented with intentional methodology, utilizing a myriad of platforms to engage all learning styles.
International Students are expected to take a full course load during their semester or year-long program. This would include core subjects like Math, Science, English, and Philosophy, Ethics and World Religion. In addition, students will have the opportunity to add electives to their schedule, to explore and develop their interests in athletics, music, art, film, and performing arts. On campus clubs are another way international students can connect, explore, have fun and make a social impact. Who Should Apply?
Ideal candidates should be interested in taking ownership of their education, with a desire to try new experiences and explore their interests in athletics, music, art, film, and performing arts. To get more information about the program, complete an inquiry here.
To participate you will need to be between the ages of 14 to 17 (applying to grades 9-12)
A "B" average or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) is required.
Students must be in good physical and emotional health.
English Language Proficiency
Applying students must have at least three years of English language in previous school and an equivalent TOEFL score of 75 to apply.
- Completion of a Standard Application (Application fee is $100)
- English proficiency test with a minimum proficiency equivalent to 75+ on TOEFL. Acceptable English tests included TOEFL, iELTS, ELTS, or the Duolingo test.
- Two-years of transcripts
- Two teacher recommendations (English/Math)
- Completion of Health Form and Certificate of immunizations.
- Interview with Admission Representative via SKYPE.

- On-Campus boarding and meals
- Admission/Enrollment and tuition fees for a semester or year program
- Pre-admission placement test for Math and or English
- Experienced enrollment staff to help select your core classes, electives, and answer any questions.
- Dedicated faculty who act as dedicated mentors, role models, and guides, helping students to get the most from their academic experience abroad.
- Transcripts and teacher recommendations if requested
- Assistance with I-20 application
- Local and regional trips as well as educational activities* (where noted)
- Support for students and families through counseling, tutoring, etc. (as needed)
- 24-hour Emergency Support
Program fees do not include travel costs, visa and passport fees, book fees and supplies, or optional non-school sponsored activities. San Domenico offers parents the opportunity to apply for indexed tuition. Indexed Tuition is a model in which tuition rates are customized according to each family’s financial ability to contribute to their educational expenses.
