We're here to help you every step of the way.
Thank you for your interest in San Domenico!
It’s with great pleasure that I introduce you to San Domenico School, a distinctive K-12 day and boarding international learning community, celebrating 172 years of exceptional, college preparatory education. Our 680 students hail from the SF Bay Area as well as 25 countries around the world. Founded in 1850 as the first independent school in California, we are proud of our heritage and distinguished tradition of educating students to become the change makers of tomorrow.
Anchored by our founding values of study, reflection, community, and service, we equip students with a lifelong passion for learning and a deeply global perspective. Every day, we ask our students not just to study, but to reflect on their learning, celebrate in community, and find their purpose. Our faculty and staff encourage students to discover meaning, purpose, and joy as part of every endeavor, and in turn, a San Domenico education creates more than just great students, it develops great people equipped with empathy, motivation, and knowledge to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Located just 30 minutes from San Francisco, our students benefit from our stunning 515 acre campus - a backdrop with extensive options for studying, activities, and adventures.
Whether you live locally or internationally, our Admissions Team is here to support your family through the application process.

Are international families required to visit San Domenico for their interviews? / Can international students conduct their interviews via phone or Zoom?
International students are not required to visit San Domenico for their interviews. While we would love to meet you and give you a tour of the campus, those who are unable to visit our campus can schedule their interview via Zoom. Students must complete a student profile on Ravenna in order to request an interview.
Are International Students required to have a Guardian in the Bay Area?
San Domenico School strongly encourages students living outside of California or the United States to have a designated San Francisco Bay Area guardian in case of illness, or to help in emergencies. Parents are responsible for finding their child's guardian. A form for local guardianship will be sent along with the enrollment contract after a student has been accepted. If you do not have local friends or family nearby, there are resources that provide guardian services: Student Health Advocates (SHA) and Cogito World Education.
Are interviews required for students who are applying to San Domenico?
We require an interview on Zoom for all prospective high school students. Interviews last between 20-30 minutes and are meant to be a conversation allowing our admissions team to get to know you better. Students are encouraged to come to the interview with questions.
Are lunch and snacks provided at San Domenico?
Yes. Both morning soup and lunch are included in the annual tuition. Our dining-service provider, the Epicurean Group, is dedicated to serving locally sourced organic food, sometimes from our own one-acre garden.
Are sibling applicants given priority in the admissions process?
As a school that highly values community and the commitment that families have made to our school, we pay close attention to sibling applications.
