Integrated Technology @ San Domenico School
When San Domenico School first started its iPad program in 2010 we talked about “going one to one.” Today we talk about “being one to one.”
San Domenico School embraces the use of technology in our school to enhance learning at all levels of our educational program. We provide the necessary resources to support the use of technology in learning by allocating: one to one iPads in grades 3 - 12; a wide variety of apps and other digital tools for students and teachers; a robust network for access to information and cloud-based resources; digital citizenship learning in all grades; technology-based curriculum and project based learning; and extensive staff professional development.
Adopting iPads as a primary digital tool throughout the school is an important part of the process of integrating technology at San Domenico School. But it was only just the beginning. Shared leadership including school heads, administrators, faculty, and parents came together throughout the community to bring this idea forward.
Technology facilitators at each school level lead by example and bring together faculty technology committees to share ideas and collaborate on developing and implementing best practices for technology integration in the classroom. Collaboration with our families is evident in our large and small group parent education classes planned and executed by our facilitators. These practices help build a strong foundation which is crucial to to encourage growth and the successful integration of technology.
Our Dominican traditions direct us to inspire inquiry and provide a strong academic foundation for lifelong intellectual growth. We celebrate diversity and recognize what it means to be human in a global community and to respond with integrity to the needs and challenges of our time. By integrating technology in our education program we uphold and engage in those traditions every day.
