Do you remember your first few days of Middle School? Maybe you were at a school where you already attended elementary school…or maybe you were switching schools and had to make new friends? We asked our new sixth-grade class about the first two days of Middle School. Here’s what they had to say:
What are you most excited about for the new school year?
“Doing big group projects with my friends.” Charlotte S.
“I’m looking forward to the Wheel of Wonder and going on field trips.” Siena B.
“Looking forward to pre-algebra, and just everything.” Luke H.
“I never thought I’d say this, but I am looking forward to homework.” Siena B.
“I’m most excited about getting my own iPad.” Roman G.
“I’m excited for all the art. I’m excited for the Golden Triangle.” Willow G.
“I like the independence, and being able to walk to my classes.” Sydney Q.
What are you most nervous about going into Sixth Grade?
“Getting to my classes on time.” Everyone
“I was worried I wouldn’t have anyone to sit with at lunch, but a few people came up to me and invited me to sit with them.” Louisa R.
“I’m nervous about how hard the math is going to be. My favorite subjects are PE and Art.” Ollie C.
“I’m not nervous - we have the best class. Everyone is friends.” Sydney Q.
What advice would you give a fifth grader about going into Middle School?
“Once you actually start Middle School, it isn’t actually that scary. The fear is all in your head.” Blythe H.
“Really pay attention to the teacher. They call on you!” Siena B.
“Try not to forget anything of your stuff in your class, because then you have to switch classes and you won’t have your stuff and the bus is leaving! Today is my fourth day on the bus, and I met some new friends.” Luke H.
“My advice? Be yourself. My cousin always reminds me, ‘Just be yourself. You can be anything you want to be.’” Gabriel R.
