US Dance Ensemble Hits the Stage
US Dance Ensemble

The Upper School Dance Ensemble and Dance Teacher Alyssa Carnahan recently attended the Bay Area High School Dance Festival, held at Marin Academy. Dance programs from across the Bay Area participated in a day of performances, dance classes, and round table discussions.

This festival has not been held since before the pandemic. The SD students in attendance were members of the SD Dance Ensemble, and were beyond excited for the chance to share their work in front of an audience. In addition to the special joy of being on stage performing one of their signature dances—"Metronome," choreographed by Alyssa Carnahan—they relished the opportunity to interact with dancers from other schools.

“Being there as a teacher,” shared Ms. Carnahan, “I also enjoyed the opportunity to share about our programs with other dance teachers, and discuss our mutual challenge of rebuilding dance programs post-pandemic. It was a joyful event, and the attendees from all of the schools felt very grateful to be there, dancing together in person.”

Don’t miss SD’s upcoming Dance Concert on May 25 & 26.
