SD’s very own Michelle W. ’24 wowed the judges recently at the Satori Summer Music Festival, garnering first place honors for her violin performance. One of the largest youth classical music competitions in Southern California, the Satori Festival has been held annually in the late summer for the last two decades. Every year, thousands of participants share their talent and excellence in music before judges and audiences.
The Festival is a unique regional opportunity to perform before a live audience and a panel of judges, allowing students to improve their musicality and stage craft, free from the massive pressure that accompanies national competitions and larger-venue environments. “Receiving this award is motivating,” reflected Michelle. “I’m inspired to spend more time practicing and continuing on my journey of mastering the violin.”
Beyond the rewards and evaluations, this competition’s core goal is the encouragement and growth of students as aspiring musicians and performers. Their growth as musicians is paramount and it is what makes this competition unique.
Congratulations Michelle!
