SD Junior Earns Top Honors in National Essay Contest
Anthony C. ’24

Earlier this semester, Social Justice Teacher Kathy Hagee challenged her students by offering the entire junior class the opportunity to participate in the national Young Authors Sacred Writings Contest hosted by the Center for Interfaith Relations. The contest invited young authors to discuss the term “one human family” and explain how people relate to each other despite differences. Writers were asked to explore themes such as acceptance, tolerance, compassion, and cooperation between different cultures, ethnicities, and other communities. Not only did Anthony C. ’24 take up the challenge, but his masterfully written essay won Honorable Mention and a cash prize in the national-wide contest.

“I am so inspired by Anthony's deep thinking and insight,” shared Ms. Hagee. “He wrote a beautiful and powerful essay and I love that he has been nationally recognized.”

Anthony’s thoughtful essay is posted on the Center for Interfaith Relations website.
