One Field, One Family: Baseball and Softball

There was something special in the air at Albert Park this past weekend. From early afternoon into the golden sunset, San Domenico's softball and baseball teams took the field for a doubleheader — and while the results on the scoreboard didn't always favor the Panthers, community and Panther pride were on full display.

The stands, packed with parents, family, and friends brought energy and noise throughout both games, celebrating every pitch, every hit, and every moment.

The softball team was riding the momentum of their most successful season. Heading into the doubleheader, they carried an undefeated 5–0 league record and showcased an explosive offense paired with standout pitching. Pitcher Rory B. ’28 became a breakout star, posting multiple double-digit strikeout performances and delivering clutch hits all season. Standout Delaney W. ’26 anchored the lineup with consistent production at the plate, while teammates like Wren W. ’26, Marin L. ’27, Frankie M. ’27, Rani W. ’26, and others helped power a deep and dynamic roster.

Head Coach Dave Whaley reflected on the group's chemistry and growth. “This season's team is stronger than last year’s team due to our strong core of returning juniors and sophomores and the addition of two experienced first-year student-athletes. Our seniors and other new-to-the-sport players are contributing, as well. Coaching this team has been incredibly rewarding. The girls have great attitudes and have come together as a supportive and caring team. Everyone contributes something and supports one another—I couldn't ask for more.”

Meanwhile, on the baseball diamond, the Panthers faced their own test. Despite hurdles, the team continued to show up for each other, playing with energy and doing the little things right. Head Coach Justin Hawkins emphasized the contributions of younger players stepping into more prominent roles. “It's been a challenging season finding our footing and staying consistent,” Hawkins said. “We've had some bright spots, and some underclassmen have started to take the mantle in terms of workload. Julian M. ’28 has been indispensable, and Crosby H. ’28 has been a playmaker in center field. Sam T. ’27 and Ian B. ’27 have made their marks on the mound this season.”

The day wasn’t just about the final scores — it was about a community coming together to support its teams. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, the stands stayed lively, filled with laughter, cheers, and the steady hum of encouragement. It was a celebration of growth, resilience, and connection — a reminder that at San Domenico, wins and losses are only part of the story. The real victories are the bonds built along the way. Panther pride runs deep — and it’s only getting stronger.
