The theme of this year’s 2025 Spring Dance Concert concert was Momentum—the force that drives us forward, propels us into action, and transforms potential into motion. “Each dance in the show explored the theme of momentum in a unique way,” shares Dance Teacher Alyssa Carnahan, “capturing the essence of movement. Momentum is an explosion of creativity and innovation, filled with power, athleticism, and depth of feeling.”
At San Domenico, dance is a complex and rich study of movement. It’s a way for students to discover who they are, work together, and grow as individuals. Whether or not students move on to professional careers, the lessons they learn about focus, confidence, and collaboration will stay with them for life. There is true power in bringing different voices together to create something beautiful and lasting.
Featuring 61 Upper and Middle School students performing 21 original dance works, Momentum offered something for everyone, set to the music of Journey, Queen, Billy Idol, Nelly Furtado, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Pentatonix, and more. The concert showcased a range of dance styles—including ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop—choreographed by both students and faculty.
“Though unified by the theme of motion, each dance told its own story,” remarks Carnahan. “Some pieces were exuberant and electrifying; others were thoughtful and emotionally rich. All highlighted the remarkable talent, passion, and dedication of our dance students and faculty.”
