In the News: San Domenico runners advance to Meet of Champions

Marin IJ: Track and Field runners advance

San Domenico senior Joaquin Foster stood on the podium at the at the North Coast Section Class A Meet with a pair of runner-up finishes.

Foster took second place in the boys 800 (1:58.30). Teammate George Kunze placed fourth (1:59.97). Foster was also second in the 1600 with a new PR of 4:21.64. The Panthers’ Devin Price finished fifth (4:28.64) ahead of Branson’s Jasper James (4:29.49) in sixth.

The top three finishers secured a berth in the NCS Meet of Champions, to be held Friday and Saturday in Dublin.

The Panthers’ Omar Williams took second in the 300 hurdles (41.98) and third in the 110 hurdles (16.04), both personal best times.

San Domenico’s Chidera Onyeukwu showed he can jump on the basketball court, and showed it again with a third-place finish in a three-way showdown in the high jump. All three top finishers cleared 5-10.

On the girls side, San Domenico’s Petra Betti’s PR of 25.85 was good enough for third place in the 200. Marin Academy’s Luella Shepard took fifth in the 3200 (11:46.42)...
