In the News: Boys basketball: San Domenico keeps season rolling with NorCal quarterfinal win

San Domenico continued its path through the CIF NorCal Regional Division V boys basketball playoffs, bringing them one step closer to the State title game they never got to play four years ago.

“I just want us to continue to be extra-disciplined with the game plan,” San Domenico head coach Tyler Gaffaney said after the Panthers’ 68-47 victory over Futures Academy of Sacramento in Thursday’s NorCal quarterfinals. “We just want to make great decisions all the time and then compete.”

The last time San Domenico appeared in the Northern California Regional title game was in March 2020. The Panthers took home the NorCal crown, but their ultimate hopes were dashed when the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the State championship game.

San Domenico, the No. 2 seed, will host No. 3 Oakwood (15-14) on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the NorCal semifinals. The Oakwood Hawks are led by senior Marko Milentijevic, the younger brother of Aleksa Milentijevic, who was a junior guard on that 2019-2020 San Domenico team...
