In a thrilling match at home on Kesterson Field, the 2022-23 BCL West Champions left a memorable mark with a resounding 26-0 win against the Lick Wilmerding team. “We played a solid game from start to finish,” said first-year Heach Coach Ben Putman. “The last time we faced them, we won on a last-second safety, but this time, we beat them convincingly. The guys were locked in on a scorching day, and I'm proud that they won the game in that fashion and positioned ourselves to win the BCL West again.”
One of the standout athletes of the game was J.D. M. '24, who had an exceptional performance, contributing significantly to the team's win with three touchdowns. He brought everyone to their feet as he ran a go route to the back of the endzone, leaping above the helpless Lick Wilmerding safety, caught the ball, and tucked it in as he fell. “Scoring three touchdowns was exhilarating,” J.D. says with a big smile. “I'm happy that my coaches and teammates trust me enough to be the go-to guy in big moments. I hope to continue showing up and proving that I'M HIM.”
In addition to J.D.’s impressive offensive display, the Panthers' defense also shone brightly during the match. A pivotal moment came during the game's final seconds when the Panther's defense executed a remarkable goal-line stand, preventing Lick Wilmerding from scoring. The impressive display and emphatic win will serve them well as they look to secure a back-to-back championship with four games to go. The next match is today against College Prep on Kesterson Field at 4:00 pm.
