Dorm News: What a crew!
Boarding students and more on a sunset hike above San Domenico

We don’t mean to brag, but our boarding students are pretty phenomenal. This week, we’ve had many opportunities to celebrate their achievements. Our Badminton team completed their season last weekend by competing at the Division II Tournament in Fremont. They finished first in BCL’s and the Final Tournament, and third in the North Coast Sections, marking the first time placing at NCS in San Domenico’s history and earning six medals for players and a pennant for the team. Go Panthers! Additionally, our own May Wu ’24 received a phone call from none other than Congressman Jared Huffman, congratulating her on winning the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for California’s Second District! May’s work will be shown in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year, and she will also receive a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the ceremony for the art display. Congratulations, May! This week our Virtuoso Program students performed, as well as our dancers in the Spring Dance Concert, and our artists displayed their work in the Hall of the Arts. We are blown away by their hard work and dedication to their athletic and artistic endeavors.

Last weekend, Mary Churchill led a group of boarding and day students, as well as some faculty members, on a full moon hike to Loma Alta. They ate burritos at the summit and braved the windy conditions to catch a glimpse of the lunar eclipse and celebrate the seniors. Mary said, “It was wonderful to see so many participants, of all ages, coming out to hike together. The windy conditions added a little drama to the experience. We’ve had a great response to the hikes this year and look forward to continuing to do more in the future.”

Badminton Team and award-winning Art

This weekend, our Prefects have organized a fun Sunday to celebrate the end of the year. The activities will include a waffle bar brunch, pool party with barbeque, field games, Chipotle for dinner, an ice cream bar, laser tag, and a movie! This will be a special time to celebrate our year together as it comes to a close.
