Dorm News: Winter Formal Dance
Photos from the Winter Formal

This past weekend kicked off with our Winter Formal Dance on campus! Our entire Upper School and their invited guests danced the night away in Dominican Hall. After the dance, the Boarding program hosted a pizza gathering in Mercedes where students could chat, joke, and continue the festivities with their friends.

In Athletics, this week was really important for our Women’s and Men’s Basketball and Women’s Soccer teams. Each team celebrated its ‘Senior Game,’ when coaches and teammates honor their graduating seniors and acknowledge their legacy and contribution to San Domenico Athletics. For the teams going on to the postseason, it was a night to celebrate the impending playoffs. Good luck to our women’s basketball team in the BCL West Finals!

On Saturday, many students headed to San Francisco for the Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown. Resident Faculty and Teachers Mary and Mark Churchill drove two vans full of excited students to attend the world famous parade and well-loved SD tradition. Mark P. ’25 and a few of his friends returned again this year to set off fireworks, watch the music and large floats parade through the streets, and eat amazing local food. “I went last year and was thrilled that the trip was offered again,” exclaimed Mark. “It lived up to the expectation!”

For students who were interested in more local offerings, a group went to College of Marin to cheer on the Women’s Varsity Soccer team as they played against Urban High School. It was a wet and rainy day, but the game was well attended, including a full van of SD students cheering on their classmates. For the Prefects, there was a bonding activity in which seniors Arthur T., Stanley M., Mali N., Tanya Y., Maja C., and Zuzu B. joined the Dorm Heads in grabbing dinner, boba, and conversation.

Sunday featured routine shopping trips, homework, and cleaning up to prepare for the ongoing week of academics. Students participated in many on-campus activities, including heading to the Conservatory, gym, and weight room. Many students are excited about planning their Spring Discovery trips, discussing locations and plans with eager anticipation. The semester is in full swing and we are happy to be here to support the students in their endeavors and goals.

As always, all the best from us in SD Boarding!
