We welcomed our students back from February break this week. Many students enjoyed a wonderful week away from SD, while others stayed on campus to explore the area without the pressures of daily classes and homework. Everyone got some rest and relaxation!

Highlights of the week included men’s and women’s basketball first round games in the CIF State Championships. We had a wonderful turnout of student support, with the bleachers filled with cheering SD fans and student athletic photography taken by Kayla L. ’26! After winning the North Coast Sectional finals for the first time in history, the Lady Panthers fell to a tough Bay Area team after being moved up two divisions (!) in the CIF seedings. The men’s team lucked out with a favorable seeding in the men’s CIF tournament, winning their first game and advancing to the next round.

During the break, our students on campus explored some epic outdoor destinations, including Mount Tamalpais, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Stinson Beach! Demyd K. ’27, Liza K .’26, Tosia K. ’25, Tina T. ’25, Vesta J. ’25, and Miranda D. ’24 enjoyed playing in the ocean waves, grabbing snacks in downtown Stinson Beach, and gathering for selfies during the “golden hour” just before sunset. Many students headed to a local golf course for a few rounds of mini golf, featuring fierce competition among Vesta J., Kris J., Tina T., and Dorm Head Chad Rockwell! Natalie K. ’25, Vesta J., Ema P. ’25, Tina T., and Jennie T. ’27 headed off to an escape room for some challenging fun.

As a school and boarding community, we are so proud of our men’s and women’s basketball teams, including Kris J., Irakli J. ’26, Chi O.’ 25, Noah B. ’25, Rex B. ’25, Derek K .’26, Jason L. ’26, Leo M. ’24, Arthur M. ’ 25, Stephen S. ’26, Omar W. ’26, Tosia K., Amahji C. ’25, and Ellie L. ’24.
