Dorm News: Badminton, Yoga, and Golf
Dorm News Laser Tag, Cooking, Mini Golf

Last week was our mid-winter break, and while many students left campus to vacation and visit friends and family, others kept the fun going by keeping it local. Students were enthusiastic about venturing to local hot spots from San Francisco to Sonoma County. They went to 4th Street in San Rafael for boba and shopping, as well as San Anselmo for shopping at Redhill. Further adventures included heading to Japantown for shopping, food, and the Mini-Art Mart, a local art festival which occurs monthly with local artisans. On campus, students bonded and made new friends over shared interests like movies and laser tag. A requested Harry Potter movie marathon played nightly in Mercedes Lounge. Aarya C.’24 really enjoys the series and was able to help explain portions of the storyline to other students, all while knitting a Gryffindor scarf! On Monday night, we played a group laser tag game after dark, which became a hotly contested and impassioned activity as student teams raced around the Lower School. More laser tag, please!

Badminton season is back! Players have been flocking to open gym to challenge returning team member Kevin Y. ’25 and new student Liza K. ’26. Kevin was part of last year’s championship team and taught Liza and several staff members how to play, including Resident Faculty Becca Palm and Jennifer Ablay. Students baked, cooked, and ate to their hearts’ content with Resident Faculty chefs Jessica Farley and Matt Polsinello!

Now that we have returned from break, we will continue to offer trips around the area from Union Square in San Francisco to Washington Square in Petaluma. Liza K. ’25 has been joining Resident Faculty and Teacher Mary Churchill and staff in early morning yoga classes at Now Power Yoga. Liza has developed a real passion for the classes and is encouraging other students to attend, as well. Part of being involved in the community is trying new things together and sharing in the joy! Jennifer Ablay, the Women’s Golf coach, led a trip to McInnis Golf Course and Liza K. ’25 encouraged Mia C. ’26 to join in a game of Miniature Golf! Liza, Mia, and Chidera O. ’25 enjoyed playing on the beautiful golf course!

We are glad to welcome everyone back and resume classes this week after a well-deserved break.
