All four winter varsity teams competed in league and NCS playoffs for the first time in San Domenico history. The outpouring of support from the SD community has been extraordinary, with friends and family braving the rainy and cold weather to cheer on their teams during soccer matches and filling the stands during home and away basketball games.
The men’s and women’s soccer teams showcased their growth by advancing to the NCS quarterfinals after clinching historic first-round wins on the same day and field. Notably, several players from both teams received well-deserved all-league honors for their outstanding performances throughout the season.
In men’s soccer, Robert S. ’24 and Rafael G. ’25 secured spots on the First Team All-League, while Davi F. ’25 and Gui G. ’27 earned positions on the Second Team All-League. In women’s soccer, Kira P. ’26 shone on the First Team All-League, accompanied by Carmellina C. ’24 and Saliah J. ’25 on the Second Team All-League.
The women’s basketball team reached unprecedented heights this season, boasting an undefeated record in the BCL West regular season, winning the league playoffs, and clinching the elusive NCS title. That success resulted in the team being moved up to the D2 bracket in NorCal as the #15 seed, facing off against #2 Vanden, who won their league for the 24th consecutive season. Our resilient Panthers showcased their talent, leading for a significant portion of the game before narrowly falling with a final score of 52-44. Multiple players from the team received accolades for their outstanding season.
Carly A. ’25 was crowned Player of the Year, while Summer J. ’24 and Madeline G. ’24 earned spots on the First Team All-League. Additionally, Avery C. ’24 secured a position on the Second Team All-League, with Lily R. ’24 receiving an Honorable Mention.
Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team continues to script history, poised as the #2 seed to face off against the formidable #1 Athenian in the upcoming NorCal Championship game. The winner of this game books a ticket to the State Championships at the Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings. This historic season is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication throughout the season. Notably, Gavin E. ’25 secured a spot on the All-League First Team, while Drew M. ’24 earned recognition on the All-League Second Team, and Chidera O. ’25 received an Honorable Mention for their outstanding contributions to the team’s success.
As the season draws to a close, it’s imperative to applaud the exceptional performances of the teams and players, the unwavering dedication of the coaches, and the tireless efforts of the entire athletics department. Their collective achievements inspire the school, embodying the spirit of determination, resilience, and sportsmanship.
