Our Upper School AP student portfolios were on display this week in the Carol Franc Buck Hall of the Arts lobby. Art Teacher and AP Art Advisor Suzanne Kelly reports, “It was amazing to see students produce a body of work that follows a question of their own. We had inquiry questions ranging from, ‘What does two-year-old behavior reveal about universal human emotions and behaviors?’ to ‘How can I use symbolism to show how gender roles and women’s perceived destinies are social systems of repression and control?’ It was fascinating to watch them and their art evolve throughout the year. I am touched beyond words by their commitment to making authentic art and sharing their observations and life experiences in a way that can feel vulnerable. I know they are more self aware for having taken this journey.”
Congratulations to all our SD artists!
