2024-25: A Season for the Books
Panther Spotlight - 2025 senior athletes photo

There was something powerful about the atmosphere inside the Athletics Banquet this year—not just the trophies, the applause, or even the highlight reels—but the sense that something is truly building at San Domenico.

As Athletic Director Mark Churchill said, this year’s celebration wasn’t just about performance—it was about growth. The growth that showed up on the scoreboard, yes, but more importantly, in each team's character, culture, and spirit.

From learning plays and schemes as freshmen to leading playoff teams as seniors, athletes matured in every sense—embracing consistency, rising to challenges, and creating traditions that will define SD Athletics for years to come.

It was a night to celebrate excellence—and there was plenty to go around:

  • 72% of students participated in athletics this year.
  • All 21 varsity teams earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • 46 athletes earned All-League honors.
  • 2 were crowned League MVPs.

And across the board, Panther pride surged.

There were record-breaking performances, like Omar W.’s ‘26 four-event sweep at the Track and Field League Championships. Head Coach Mark Churchill said, “What Omar accomplished—winning four events and setting a school record in the 300 hurdles—is something I’ve never seen. He’s raised the bar for what’s possible.”

In golf, Oskar V. ‘26 captured the BACBCL League Championship, firing an even-par 71 in blustery conditions, complete with two eagles and a confident mindset.

In tennis, Toby S. ‘27 battled through injury to win the BCL West singles title and placed third at NCS, proving himself against the top players in the region.

The badminton program added yet another league championship to its resume. Said coach Crystal Jimenez: “It’s the players’ accountability and passion that set this group apart. They’re hungry to improve but stay humble and support each other in every match.”

In cross country, Devin P. ‘25 delivered one of the most iconic seasons in school history, earning his second straight trip to the CIF State Championships and establishing himself as the gold standard for the program.

Carly A. ‘25 made Panther history by winning back-to-back league MVP honors in basketball and finishing as the NCS Division II singles runner-up in tennis, her secondary sport.

And out on the water, the sailing team placed third at the Gaucho Regatta—top among NorCal schools—and secured a spot at the Silver PCCs, with their sights now set on Gold.

Yes, there were banners. Yes, there were medals. But what stood out most were the stories. The mountain biking team’s campfires and team tents. The softball dugout cheers. The volleyball huddles after every point.

As Athletic Director Mark Churchill closed the banquet, he reminded us that athletics at San Domenico is not just about participation—it’s about tradition, spirit, and the belief that each player, coach, and supporter plays a role in shaping a culture of excellence.

So here’s to the Panthers of 2024–25. To the seniors who led, the underclassmen who stepped up, the teams that surprised us, and the ones still building toward their moment. You’ve laid the foundation for something great.

And for those returning next year—well, you’ve got some big shoes to fill. But if this year was any indication, you’re more than ready.
