US Band rocks the quad in their first performance of the year!
Members of the band ready to perfom

The Upper School Band Workshop made its debut outside of Dominican Hall last week for a special performance.

Student musicians have been working during the semester to refine a selection of music, with a special emphasis on blues, R&B, rock, and other musical styles informed by the African-American diaspora and intercultural dialogue of the 20th century. The performance paid tribute to the contributions and evolution of music by artists such as James Brown and Howlin' Wolf, as well as artists who have carried the mantle of these traditions into the modern day.

“It's hard to believe these students have only been together as a band for a couple of months now! It's really thrilling for us to have the opportunity to coach young musicians in these ensembles who obviously love to make music and work hard to put on a great performance. The fact that we all get to enjoy it as a community is the icing on the cake!” — Rob DeNunzio, Music Director

Our performers include:

Zoe Manerud - vocals
Alex Uhrlaub - guitar
Ivan Kiryakin - guitar
Xavier Hank Figueroa - saxophone
Jesse Roberts - bass
Charlie Nau - drums

“This incredible performance by the students of the Upper School Band Workshop is exemplary of the work ethic and passion of all of our students present at San Domenico. I am honored to be a first-hand witness to the daily growth of these young people into better artists, thinkers, and human beings. Most importantly, every day we get to play music is a day well spent.”
