#FacesOfSD - Shirley Li

We've got so many cool people in our SD community and we thought you'd like to get to know some of them. Follow along at #FacesOfSD. Here, meet Shirley Li, Upper School Mandarin Teacher.

What is your full name? Shirley Li

Where were you born? Yantai, China

What is your favorite subject, other than your own of course? Math

What do you do in your job here at San Domenico? And what is your favorite part of the job? I'm the Mandarin Chinese teacher here at SD. My favorite part of the job is to be part of such a wonderful, vibrant, and spirited community!

Which of our core values of Study, Reflection, Community, and Service is inspiring you the most this week and why? Reflection is on my mind this week in particular because I recently had one of my classes learn a Chinese parable about a frog looking out from the bottom of a well (it's a lesson about perspective) and it's a perfect reminder of the importance of reflection in learning.

After working hard all week shaping young minds, what is your ideal weekend? I like gardening, going to teaching conferences, and trying new restaurants.

What are several of your most significant personal accomplishments? I've successfully raised 14 hens from infancy and I take pride in selling their fresh, organic eggs!

What are several of your most significant professional and/or academic accomplishments? I really like our new curriculum this year.

Thank you for sharing Shirley, and for all you do for our community!
