In order to share more of our amazing community here at SD, we offer this weekly #FacesOfSD to give you a chance to learn more about our faculty and staff. Today we are thrilled to introduce Lex Razon, Percussion instructor at the Music Conservatory.
Born in San Francisco, Lex grew up in Mill Valley. His first introduction to drumming started at ten years old. At the age where most kids studied piano; he was drawn to the drums. Now based in Fairfax, Lex has been involved in the music scene for over twenty years. In 1996 Lex became a founding member of the Bay Area Latin-funk band Vinyl and is currently the drummer for Vinyl and Tam Valley All Stars. Lex has had the opportunity to record and perform with Vinyl, Les Claypool (Primus), and Bernie Worrell. Vinyl received a "Wammie" award for Best International Band from San Francisco's SF Weekly and was voted one of the top 25 bands in the country by a jambands.com nationwide poll. They have had the opportunity to perform with Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, legendary folk singer Joan Baez, and reggae legend Ernest Ranglin.
