In order to share more of our amazing community here at SD, we offer this weekly #FacesOfSD to give you a chance to learn more about our faculty and staff. Today, we are thrilled to introduce Deanna Bruton, Advancement Associate.
Deanna was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Rafael with her three younger sisters. After high school, she went to the University of California at Davis and earned a B.A. in Religious Studies. While working in various Advancement positions at Golden Gate University in downtown San Francisco, she went back to school and earned a Master’s in Library and Information Science, from San Jose State University. She is excited to use her research skills at San Domenico and work in Marin, where she grew up.
Q. Full name?
A. Deanna Bruton
Q. Where were you born?
A. San Francisco
Q. Favorite word?
Q. What do you do here at San Domenico? And what is your favorite part of your job?
A. I am part of the Advancement team, and help raise funds for the SD Fund and other exciting projects at school. I am also responsible for outreach to our many alumni and friends. My favorite part of the job is learning about the stories of our SD alumni. They have led very exciting and inspiring lives, and many credit their current success to the time they spent at San Domenico. It reinforces what we already know: San Domenico is a very special place!
Q. Which Dominican value inspires you the most this week and why? (Study, Reflection, Community, or Service?)
A. Reflection. Our team is in the midst of planning activities for our School Anniversary, and it's gratifying to stop and reflect on the amazing work our former staff, faculty, parents, and alumni did to make San Domenico what it is today. I observe that our current parents and students continue that legacy, proudly.
Q. What might an average weekend look like, for you?
A. I spend time with friends and family. I live in San Francisco and enjoy exploring different neighborhoods.
Deanna, thank you so much for all you do for San Domenico! From the moment you joined our team you have been an invaluable member of our community, jumping in on myriad projects (and always with a smile!) and making every Advancement event so very special. We are so grateful for you!
