We've got so many cool people in our SD community and we thought you'd like to get to know some of them. Follow along at #FacesOfSD. Here, meet Cameron H., Class of 2017!
In what grade did you start at SD? I started last year as a junior.
Where were you born? Columbus, OH, but I live in Kentfield, CA now.
What is your favorite subject in school? This year, my favorite class is AP Bio because I find science so fascinating and Dr. Brown is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met.
What activities do you do here at San Domenico? And what stirred your interest to become involved in those activities? I am on the Dance Ensemble. I've been dancing for about 14 years now, and the Dance Ensemble is a really good program and a fun community to be a part of.
Which of our core values of Study, Reflection, Community, and Service is inspiring you the most this week and why? Reflection is definitely most on my mind this week as I have been laid up in bed because I had an emergency appendectomy on Sunday. I have had boatloads of time to spend thinking about what makes me happy, and what I can change in my life to make life better, both for myself and the people around me.
After working hard in school all week, what is your ideal weekend? My ideal weekend consists of waking up no earlier than 11:00 AM on Saturday morning, and then exploring the Bay Area and going to new places. There is so much cool stuff within driving distance: museums, parks, hiking trails, restaurants.
What is one to three of your most significant personal accomplishments? First, as of January 2017, I have been accepted by four colleges. It is a huge relief to know that I will be going to a college. Second, this year I am taking AP Art, and have already completed about 14 projects. In this class, I have pushed my creative envelope farther than I thought it could go, and I am proud of what I have accomplished.
What is one to three of your most significant academic accomplishments? I passed both of my AP tests last year, and that was a pretty proud moment for me. This year, I am taking four AP classes and am surprisingly managing them quite well.
What was your best, "I wish someone had seen this" moment? Last semester was all about college applications. When I finished them, a huge weight was taken off my shoulders. That was one of the best feelings I have ever felt.
