San Domenico School News & Events

Dorm News: May 7, 2021

We in the boarding community of San Domenico have a lot to be grateful for: we live in a beautiful setting among friends, the weather allows us to get outside and have fun, summer is just around the corner, and, of course, we have the best commute!

Many of our students have been working diligently to prepare for the AP exams this week, which will continue into next week. We’re proud of all of our students as they prepare for the last round of assessments this year.

This weekend we’re offering trips to Trader Joe’s, Bon Air shopping center, Downtown San Rafael, and Japantown.

I asked our boarding students what they’re feeling grateful for this week:

I’m grateful that my theatre project is going well and my second and third rehearsals went really well and my actors are working really hard.

I'm looking forward to the weekend trip to Japantown because it’s been a long time since we were last there. My favorite thing about Japantown is Mochidonut!

I took a chemistry quiz and I did really well on that. I’m also looking forward to the weekend trip to Japantown.

I’m grateful that it’s getting warmer because my favorite season is summer and we’re getting closer!

I’m grateful that the varsity basketball team has had two games and we have another game tonight, and everyone’s supporting us.

I’m grateful that I’m playing volleyball because I wasn’t going to play this year but I started and it’s really fun. And we had a great badminton season.

I’m most grateful for having volleyball practice and swimming practice. We’re swimming at Sleepy Hollow and it’s going really well. It’s refreshing at the end of a hot day. It’s really nice to be in the water.

I’m grateful for basketball and for sports starting back up. Before Covid, watching sports was a great distraction from whatever was going on in my life, so watching the games here brings me back to my pre-Covid life.

I’m grateful for my friends. Yesterday was my birthday and they showed me how much they care about me and it made me feel really good.

This week I’m thankful for the basketball season because at first we didn’t know if we were going to have it at all. The fact that we get to play, even if the season doesn’t count, it’s really heartwarming. Bringing our community together to support our team through the livestream is also a bonus.

I’m really grateful for Tylenol because I got my second Covid vaccine and the Tylenol really helped.

We are grateful for all of our Boarding Students! You make our jobs rewarding and fun!
