Dorm News: April 30, 2021

It’s hard to believe we’ve come to the end of April and are moving into our last four weeks of school! In the dorms, however, we always have new and exciting changes, and we’re constantly striving to improve our program. We recently welcomed a few students - some new to boarding and some returning - into the dorms, we’re refining our policies to match current Marin County Public Health recommendations, and we’re always looking for new ways to engage our students and have fun together.

Now that we have greater flexibility in the trips we can offer, we realized that relying on our whiteboard for trip information and sign ups was no longer meeting our needs. We’ve returned to our pre-pandemic online forms, organized by Alexis Gerlach, “We want to make it fair for everyone to have the opportunity to get off campus. We wanted to make it more efficient. This way students are able to look at the trips we have planned for the weekend, look at the trips they want to go on with their friends. It’s going well. It seems like people are able to plan ahead, figure out what they want to do, and they can also request trips, so we can make sure we’re offering trips they want to go on.”

This weekend we have trips planned to Vintage Oaks, Town Center, Emeryville, and Stinson Beach, in addition to Red Hill, of course!

So what is everyone planning this weekend? We have AP tests beginning next week so a lot of our students will be studying to prepare this weekend. Other plans include:

I have a track meet on Saturday at Kezar Stadium. I run the 100 and then do both throwing events. I think my parents are coming for a family visit on Sunday.

I have a track meet and we’re going on a dorm trip on Sunday to Scoop in Fairfax.

Homework. That’s all I have. The whole weekend. Yeah, I procrastinated.

I’m also in the track meet, and I have the musical on Sunday. I’m also going to study for AP US History this Sunday.

I’m going on the trip to Emeryville on Saturday, and I’m going to play video games with my friends.

I have a violin lesson. That’s all I’m doing. And homework.

I also have the track meet. I run the 100, 200, and the 4x100. On Sunday I think I’m going to go on one of the trips, I’m not sure which one. After that I’m going to go back and study. Next week is AP testing and I have four AP classes so I’ve been studying a lot.

I’m going to Emeryville. And doing lots of homework.

We wish everyone a fun and productive weekend!
