As the focal point of an Upper School Portrait Unit, Art 2 students received photos of students from Africa, working with the non-profit arts outreach program The Memory Project. This program is dedicated to promoting understanding and kindness amongst children around the world through art programs.
Using these photos, we created portraits in graphite of Cameroonian children, who are in the midst of a civil war. Cameroon is the country in which I served as a teacher in the Peace Corps in a remote village in the rainforest. It was exciting for my students to know their art would soon be in the hands of these students! Enjoy the video here of the students receiving their portraits.
