Dan's background in education started 15 years ago teaching students environmental education and group-building skills in the outdoors. He went on to teach in many different capacities using a variety of outdoor environments as the classroom. He now enjoys bringing the sense of exploration and of group-building that is key for effective outdoor education into the classroom. Dan is a lifelong learner. Having a challenging academic start as a young dyslexic student, Dan was inspired by amazing teachers that taught him to have a growth mindset which has served him well in and out of the classroom. Dan believes that young people thrive in learning environments that weave together academic development, social emotional learning, and play. In his classroom, learning is active, exploratory, and student-centered. Dan teaches with enthusiasm and authenticity and loves learning alongside his students.
