About this Role
San Domenico School offers an optional after-school extended care program, EXTra, for students in grades K–5. EXTra teachers foster a positive, child-centered environment where students thrive in a culture of respect, responsibility, and collaboration. The program provides a safe and welcoming space for students to transition after the school day, with opportunities for free play, arts and crafts, homework support, reading, and time with friends.
Job Responsibilities
The school’s faculty strives to set for its students an example of high ethical standards, moral behavior, and devotion to excellence. The school seeks an Assistant Teacher whose responsibilities include the following:
- Work with the Director of Auxiliary Services and K-5 teachers to create a dynamic program that mirrors the values and mission of our school
- Work with the Director of Auxiliary Services to develop curriculum and programming schedules to ensure an engaging and robust experience for all students in EXTra (Extended Day Program) and special day programs.
- Actively supervise students in EXTra
- Communicate with families and students participating in EXTra
- Prepare schedules and keep attendance records for EXTra
- Snack preparation
- General first aid
- Facilitate group games
- Supervise and facilitate arts and crafts projects
- Manage EXTra central spaces i.e., main space in art room, Chase Field blue blocks
- Escort children to bus on campus
- Escort children to After School Activities on Campus
- Monitor supplies inventory and communicate with the Director of Auxiliary Services on what supplies are needed
- Staff special day programs including Professional Development days, Early Dismissal days, special Student Holidays, and School Breaks
- Work closely with staff to ensure a nurturing, safe, and productive social, emotional, and academic environment
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Auxiliary Services

Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of child care experience
- Must be 18 years or older
- Experience interacting and communicating regularly with parents of students in all types of situations that arise in a school setting
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Other duties as assigned
- Basic computing/data entry skills
Hours
15-20 hours per week. Must be available to work from 2:30pm-5:30pm. Monday-Friday. Occasional opportunities to work additional hours based on programming offerings.
Compensation
This is an hourly non-exempt 10-month position with a free daily meal on work days. This position is a part-time nonexempt position, which is eligible for paid overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal law. The position pays $22-$27 an hour. Final placement within this range is commensurate with a candidate’s specific experience and qualifications; typically, those with fewer years of experience can expect placement toward the lower end of the scale.
