Nature Arts & Crafts Teacher - San Domenico Explorers Summer Camp

Temporary 2026 summer position for 5 camp sessions  (grades PreK-5) for weeks of:
June 15th-19th, June 22nd-26th, July 13th-17th, July 20th-24th, July 27th-31st

Mandatory Training: June 12 (for June staff) and July 10 (for July staff).

Who We Are 

The San Domenico summer camp program offers children aged 4-18 a rich assortment of sports, academic, and enrichment programs, including art, music, digital art, film, and STEM-oriented programs. Our camps are located on San Domenico’s beautiful 515 acre campus in San Anselmo.

About the Role

San Domenico Explorers Summer Camp seeks a creative and enthusiastic Nature Arts & Crafts Teacher to lead art experiences that connect campers with the natural world. Working with children ages 4–10, this role blends artistic expression with environmental awareness through eco-friendly crafts and nature-inspired projects that encourage creativity, confidence, and stewardship.

Explorers Summer Camp takes place across our expansive campus, including a one-acre organic garden and miles of forested trails. Campers rotate through hands-on activities such as gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, hiking, team-building games, and nature exploration. Our program nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a meaningful connection to the natural world.  This position is an excellent opportunity for teachers and educators on summer break who enjoy working outdoors and inspiring young learners.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, fostering an inclusive and joyful creative space, and supporting the broader camp community through daily routines and group activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the camp’s arts & crafts program
  • Design fun, eco-friendly nature art projects aligned with camp values
  • Adapt activities for different ages and skill levels
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized art spaces
  • Promote creativity, collaboration, and environmental stewardship
  • Support daily camp routines including snack, lunch, field trips, pool time, and group activities

Qualifications

  • Experience in arts & crafts, environmental education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in educational or camp settings
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices and appreciation for the natural world
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Ability to work outdoors throughout the day

Schedule/Compensation

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
  • Mandatory Training: June 12th and July 10th
  • The hourly range for this position is: $25.00-32.00/hour. This position is nonexempt, which is eligible for paid overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal law. Final placement within this range is commensurate with a candidate’s specific experience and qualifications; typically, those with fewer years of experience can expect placement toward the lower end of the scale. As a temporary summer employee, this position is ineligible for most school benefits.
  • Lunch and snacks are provided daily.
