SSAT Summer Prep
We will start by learning general test taking strategies, and then cover the Verbal, Quantitative (Math), and Reading Comprehension sections. Our group will be limited to 15 participants, ensuring personalized focus and useful collaboration. Short homework assignments will be assigned each night to reinforce what was learned.
Quantitative (Math) topics include: Algebra, Fractions, Functions, Patterns, Percentages, Proportions, Word Problems.
Reading Topics: Annotation, Main topic, Inferences, Vocabulary in context, Author's Intent
Verbal Topics (mostly Analogies): Vocabulary Flash Cards, Common Relationships, Avoiding Trap Answers
Strategies: When to skip/ When to guess, Backsolving, Process of Elimination
Monday - Thursday | July 17-20, 2017 | 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Cost is $375 per four day session. Lunch is an optional $36.
Jock Christie is an experienced Math and Science tutor, who got his start teaching Physics in 1987 after graduating from Princeton. After earning an MS at MIT, Jock worked in the aerospace industry for several years before returning to teaching. Jock taught AP Physics C at San Domenico High School for many years, and also was the SD Mathletes Coach for 10 years. He has extensive experience coaching a variety of standardized tests, including the SSAT, ACT, SAT, and GRE.
