Camp registration is now open!  

Since 1995 our 500 acre campus of rolling hills, organic garden, outdoor kitchen/classroom, hiking trails, and state of the art sports and arts facilities have been making San Domenico an ideal place to spend summer days. We're proud of the breadth and depth of experience our instructors and supporting counselors bring; they're the best at what they do! With a wide variety of camps and classes for students aged 5-18 you can enroll your child in a camp opportunity each week for a fun, well-rounded experience.

All camps are full days, Mon-Fri, unless noted.
Full Day: 9:00am - 3:30pm
   At noon campers gather for optional lunch in the San Domenico cafe.
   Cafe lunch costs $35/week ($28 for basketball) paid in advance.
AM session: 9:00am - 12 noon
PM session: 12:30 - 3:30pm

Camp Descriptions 

Amazing Math! (grades 3 - 5)
Just because school’s out for summer, doesn’t mean we should let our math skills go on vacation! Students in “Amazing Math” will spend the entire week playing math games and completing fun math hands-on projects. This mathematical week of enrichment will leave students feeling energized, excited, and much more confident about their math skills. Some of the activities include creating tessellations, cooking, origami, puzzles, building, and number work.

Arts Intensive (grades 6 - 12)
Summer Arts at San Domenico offers a unique opportunity for motivated students to engage in an intense visual arts experience. Students will develop techniques in a variety of mediums including painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and drawing. Projects are designed for maximum skill building, artistic risk-taking and aesthetic gratification using quality materials in studios that support creative work. Students will be challenged to develop both their skills and their personal expression, while moving beyond their perceived limitations.

 Basketball Camp with Mike Fulton & Jeff Skaggs (grades 3 - 7)
For 10 years Basketball
Camp has been a healthy mix of game situations, fundamentals, high energy, skill building, and fun exposure to the great game of basketball. Beginners and seasoned players are sure to have a memorable time, and will be challenged to play hard, be a good teammate, and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Each day is finished off with a dip in our pool. Camp tee-shirt and morning snacks included.

Cost: $195/4-day week

 Craftsmen Kids (grades 1-2 mornings, 3-6 afternoons)
During this workshop, campers will learn the proper use of hand tools, safety, and have the satisfaction of creating various wood projects to take home. From stools to stilts, your son or daughter will be have the option to build teacher directed projects or have time to create their own projects. There will also be a "take part" area to see how telephones, VCRs, and other home appliances work. Class size is limited to 12 students for maximum teacher student facilitation.

Cost: $250/week (half days AM or PM)

Explorers (grades K - 5)
Explore San omenico's beautiful 500+ acre campus through art, cultural awareness and outdoor discovery. We offer a blend of exciting activities in a traditional camp setting, including arts and crafts, hiking, gardening, animal care, nature exploration, games, cooking, music, storytelling, and so much more! Campers are grouped by age and will rotate through these activities throughout the day. At the end of the day, all campers will enjoy a dip in the pool. Camp tee-shirt and snacks included. Take a 10% discount if you book both weeks!

Cost: $175/week (half days AM or PM); $350/week (full days)

Horseback Riding
 Attire: Long pants required, not too baggy. We have boots & helmets to borrow. Snack, drinks, and daily lunch provided.

Beginner, Age 6 - 9: In addition to riding every day, beginners are taught how to groom, handle, bathe and tack up a horse. Camp Counselors lead games that teach campers about basic anatomy, equipment and horse health. Safety is strongly emphasized throughout. At the end of the week, riders should be able to demonstrate control of a horse or pony through an obstacle course and the posting trot in a small “show off” for parents.
$400/week (half days AM 9:00 - 12 noon, no lunch)

Intermediate, Age 7 - 9: Riders with one year or more of riding experience, or who are attending the morning camp, but want a little more*, can sign up for the PM portion of the day. After lunch at the cafeteria, riders will be assigned a horse or pony and will learn how to care for and of course ride in lessons, games and practice rides. In the afternoon, we’ll cool off at the pool.
$400/week (half days PM 12:00 – 3:30)
$700/week (full days)
 

Jr. Counseling, Age 10+ with at least one year riding experience, who have never worked at camp before. In the morning, Jr. Counselors help teach the younger campers about horses and horse handling while practicing their own skills. Jr. Counselors will work with a more experienced Counselor to master bridling, horse handling, leading and more. After lunch at the cafeteria, Jr. Counselors can stay on for Advanced Camp (see below) or schedule lessons or practice rides. Jr. Counselors take one lesson together one day after camp. After completing one week and a small test, Jr. Counselors can sign up as Counselors through Susanna.
$100/week (half days AM only )

Advanced, Age 10+ with at least 2 years riding experience (must be able to control a horse at the canter). Advanced Campers are assigned a horse for the week. In addition to daily riding (lessons and practice rides), riders will learn the intricacies of horse health and care. We wind up the day, cooling off at the pool.
$300/week (half days PM, 12:00 – 3:30)

Lego Free Play (grades K - 5)
Started 10 years ago, the Free Play concept was designed as a fun and creative adventure that utilizes the over 250,000 pieces in our fabulous Lego Lab. Children can create their own work, join with others to make extensive structures, watch family movies (like Disney), and just hang out with friends in a casual setting. Kids love the freedom it brings! Now in its seventh year, this
camp has proven to be a terrific experience for boys and girls.

Cost: $150/week (half days AM or PM); $250/week (full days)

Lego Mindstorm NXT 2.0 Robotics  Camp (grades 4-5)
This camp is designed for incoming 4th and 5th grade kids who want to explore the Lego Mindstorm NXT 2.0, the incredible Lego Robot with light, touch, sound, and ultrasonic sensors. This robot can be designed and programmed to follow lines through a maze, shoot balls, and react to voice commands. This is a perfect program for San Domenico students who want an early start for the upcoming September 2010 First Lego League (FLL) that will be part of a robotics club in the fall. This camp is limited to 12 students to allow for personal instruction in programming and building. Note: this camp is a three-day camp: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday; 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. Bring bag lunch or add $20 for cafe lunch.

Secret Garden (grades K - 2)
Explore San Domenico's one-acre organic garden through the senses, stories and games. Students will eat vegetables straight from the garden, learn to feed the chickens, play games, listen to stories in our log circle, examine our pond under a microscope, plant seeds in our greenhouse, and much more. The garden reveals its magical secrets this week.

Cost: $220/week (half days AM)

Dave Geoffrion's SportsKids (grades 2 - 7)
At SportsKids you will learn and sharpen skills, techniques and strategies in a variety of sports and all camp games, get super fit and make new friends! Campers are divided by age into groups and rotate between four or five activities throughout the day. Most activities have a camper-to-coach ratio of 8:1. Our enthusiastic coaching staff will provide instruction and supervision in a safe, positive and fun environment! (Swimming lessons are available at an additional fee.)

Cost: $250/1st week or $425 for both weeks

Summer Music Lessons at the Music Conservatory
Children and adults are invited to take advantage of the
summer months to brush off your old instrument, try out a new one, or take your playing to the next level! We offer private lessons on piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, and voice. Study with one of the San Domenico Music Conservatory's accomplished teachers, each a professionally-trained specialist in their own instrument. Swim Lessons with Mary! (all ages)
Half-hour swim lessons will be available after each camp day, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Lessons are available for all age levels, skill levels, and private or semi-private. Mary Alber has been teaching swimming for 25+ years and the last six at San Domenico . Contact Mary directly to schedule: 415-999-2710.

Tennis Camp (age 6 - 15)
Fun and fundamentals using the "Progressive Tennis" format will be the focus for the beginner and beginner/intermediate students. Campers will learn how to play tennis and have FUN in the process. Complete game development and strategies of competitive play the focus for intermediate and advanced campers. Video analysis and the use of tennis instructional videos will be used. Groups will be organized by level of play and experience, and space is limited each week to 6 beginner, 6 beginner/intermediate, 4 intermediate and 4 advanced campers. Please feel free to organize your own group of friends to play together during a particular week. Space is available on a first come, first serve basis. Drills, technique development and match play will be balanced with fun, games and video analysis. An optional lifeguard supervised swim will be available at the end of each day to all full day and afternoon campers. Lunch is available daily for an extra fee.Private and semi-private lessons are also available throughout the summer, including the week of July 7-11. Cost: $300/week (half days AM or PM); $450/week (full days). 10% discount for families with 2+ children participating the same week.

For campers from San Francisco taking the round trip shuttle van, add $100.00/week. Pick-up is at 8:10 a.m. at the Presidio Golf Course parking lot. Drop-off is at 5:00 p.m. at the Presidio Golf Course parking lot.

Volleyball (grades 4 - 8)
Learn basic skills, work on fundamentals, and expand your volleyball knowledge in the school's new athletic center! The lessons and experiences introduced through volleyball stay with players for years to come: confidence, integrity, perseverance, sportsmanship, commitment, and teamwork. At the end of each day, cool down in the campus pool. Camp tee-shirt and snacks included.
