Over Memorial Day weekend, 14 SD swimmers traveled to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This was a training trip for our team as we scheduled 12 hours of long course pool time over the four days. At an altitude of 6,035 ft the slogan is 'No air, no problem.' The trip was amazing as we shared the pool with over 12 national team swimmers. Our Panther swimmers trained like Olympians as we pushed them through all our training sessions. We often had the pool to ourselves, in an amazing facility. Our swimmers trained hard and saw firsthand where swimming can take them.
It was a bonding trip, a learning trip, and a very successful trip our swimmers will not forget.
Back in CA, we followed our training with a long course senior meet in Pleasanton. The meet was nearly perfect with everyone achieving best times. Many dropped as many as 26 seconds in one event. The meet was amazing as many of our time drops were double digits, our team dropped over 400 seconds! It was the best meet we have had in our 5 years as a team. Special congratulations to Emma Keith Brown who won the 400 IM with a time of 5:16.34. With her victory, Emma qualified for Sectionals, which is the first level of national competition. Emma will be one of the youngest swimmers there. Several of our swimmers are close to making sectionals...we will see who is next! Congratulations to all of our swimmers on a brilliant season! Swim fast!
