Dear San Domenico Families,

One of the most important jobs for our Board of Directors is to review the budget and set tuition for the coming year. We take this responsibility very seriously. Our analysis each year includes a review of our finances as well as the tuition, fees, and compensation at a wide group of peer schools, including K-8, high schools, and boarding programs. During this process, our primary focus is to continue providing the exceptional experience that is the hallmark of a San Domenico education, in keeping with the goals set forth in our Strategic Plan, SD2021.

We also understand that an independent school education is a significant investment and we are grateful that your family has chosen SD. It is with tremendous appreciation and humility that we carry on our 166-year tradition of exceptional academics, inquiry, respectful discourse, a striving toward peace and social justice, and an inspired sense of purpose and service. Toward this end, we also remain dedicated to maintaining broad financial access and equitable faculty compensation. Our teachers are the heart of our school and we continue to move forward on our multi-year commitment to closing the gap in teacher pay. Over the past two years we have made steady progress in closing this gap, and we are aiming to be within the median range of peer schools in our region over the course of the next few years.

Below you will find the tuition and grade-level fees for the 2017-18 academic year. SD continues to offer a remarkable value - including food and transportation in tuition - while remaining lower than the majority of other independent schools in our region. However, we understand that for some families, any increase in tuition may present a challenge. Should you have concerns about affordability for next year, please contact our Enrollment Systems Manager and Financial Aid Coordinator Dianne Dornbush (ddornbush@sandomenico.org) as soon as possible.

On behalf of our faculty, administration, Dominican Sisters, and Board of Directors, we thank you for choosing San Domenico as your partner in education.

All the best,

Amy Skewes-Cox ’71
