San Domenico has a long tradition of becoming home to a large number of students from around the world. Founded in 1850 San Domenico is California’s oldest independent school. In keeping with our Dominican values of inclusion and inquiry, we embrace diversity and value the opportunity to bring students of different backgrounds together to learn from one another.
As stated in our school’s Social Vision statement: "We are a community of belonging where students, staff and families are dedicated to inclusion and respect for all." You will love living here and enjoy getting to know other students and staff from across the United States, and from a wide range of other countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Costa Rica and more. Our residential faculty are committed to helping you adjust to life as part of the SD community and we encourage you to learn more about our boarding program here.
International students entering in grades 9 and 10 can enroll in our English as a Second Language (ESL) Program. After one year in our ESL Program, students transition into our traditional college preparatory curriculum with continued support to ensure their success.
To apply for admission to San Domenico, please follow the instructions below.
CANDIDATES FROM CHINA
Due to the large number of applicants from China, we require all candidates to conduct a pre-interview with our affiliate in China, Vericant. Applicants must concurrently fill out the San Domenico application as per the below instructions. Vericant submits completed pre-interviews to the SD admissions team, who then decide which candidates will be invited for a formal Skype interview. To reiterate, you must complete both the application below and conduct an interview with Vericant.
